ABOUT US
South Seas Communities (SSC) is an organization dedicated to empowering youth and families, particularly those facing complex challenges, within richly diverse communities across Australia.

SSC provides a supportive platform where individuals can explore their cultural heritage, build self-awareness, and develop resilience.

We provide comprehensive programs designed to empower both participants and training for educators, counselors, and community workers. Our training equips them with the skills needed to effectively deliver our framework and offer mentorship to others. Together, we create a supportive environment that fosters growth and development within the community. Join us in making a positive impact through education and mentorship.
Through narrative therapy, cultural practices, and mentoring, SSC helps participants navigate personal growth, generational trauma, overcome obstacles, and foster a strong sense of identity.
SSC’s purpose is to create an inclusive environment that promotes understanding, care, and empowerment, helping young people and their families thrive and find their place in the community.⬤
Our Founder
Deacon To'o
Deacon has devoted nearly 20 years to Community Services, beginning in 2003 with Out Of Home Care, where he supported young people from challenging backgrounds. In 2007, he joined Odyssey House, a leading Residential Rehabilitation Centre, specializing in addiction support. There, he refined his skills in group therapy and served as a compassionate mentor.
In 2015, Deacon stepped into a leadership role in the Disability sector, coordinating Community Participation programs. This experience sharpened his expertise in managing diverse stakeholder relationships, supporting both clients and families.
Returning to the Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) sector in 2017, Deacon applied his skills within the CALD (Culturally and Linguistically Diverse) community, providing intensive case management and culturally tailored AOD and Mental Health programs across correctional facilities and high schools in Sydney.
For the past four years, Deacon has served as an AOD Case Worker with Uniting’s “Getting It Together Scheme” (GITS), where he empowers young people through engagement, motivation, and accountability. His work in Youth Justice Detention Centers and schools encourages critical thinking and personal responsibility among young people.
Committed to best practices and strong communication, Deacon creates supportive, growth-oriented environments. He is dedicated to fostering resilience, empowerment, and positive change in the lives of those he serves.
